About the Portland Metro-Area Christadelphians
The Portland Christadelphians are disciples of Jesus and worship and fellowship together in mutual support of living a life in keeping with the teachings of Jesus. We study Jesus' teachings together and explore the Bible with an open mind, searching for insights that aid us in our daily life. We seek to learn to shine the light of God's love thoughtfully and in all aspects of our lives.
We are a lay-ministry; an organization in which everyone participates and there is no central authority. We meet every Sunday to fellowship in joint remembrance of Jesus. We have a weeknight Bible class, a weekday womens' study group, young peoples' activities, and other activities and functions. We are a community seeking joy and peace in our service to God.
Christadelphians
"Christadelphian" means "brothers in Christ" in the same way that Philadelphia means "brotherly love". We are a worldwide community of believers.
Christadelphians meet in groups called "ecclesias". Ecclesias are autonomous organizations, usually made of members from a small region, and affiliated with other ecclesias around the world. In Oregon and Washington there are Christadelphian ecclesias in Salem, Waldport, Grants Pass, Medford, Olympia, Seattle and Portland.
Our Beliefs and Practices
We believe in the Bible as our source for spiritual learning, and delight in studying the Bible together. We focus on Jesus as our guide and life example. We believe in God's purpose with mankind; a better hope for the world, and His calling us to obey and follow Him and His son in all we say and do. We believe in the resurrection of the dead and we choose to demonstrate our belief in this resurrection through baptism and a daily life commitment. We recognize that salvation is by grace. We endeavor to be enthusiastic in our work, loyal to each other, generous in giving, dedicated to prayer, and live a life consistent with our faith.
